Sacramento Bee

The Sacramento Bee was founded in 1857 and is the flagship newspaper of the 30 daily newspapers owned by the McClatchy Company. During its more than 150-year history, the Bee has demonstrated a commitment to serve the community through independent reporting. The Bee led the fight against hydraulic mining in the 19th century, fought land monopolies, helped break the stranglehold of the railroads, exposed corruption in government and business, advocated for public ownership of utilities and other vital public services, championed environmental protection, and served as a forum for discussion of social and political issues. Today, the Bee's circulation area covers approximately 12,000 square miles: from Stockton, CA to the Oregon border, and from Reno to the San Francisco Bay Area. The Sacramento Bee offers summer internships in journalism, in which students develop content for print or online editions.
