Fair Share

In response to the growth backlash of the 1970s, California legislators insisted that communities accept their “fair share” of new housing supply. In recent years, the Bay Area has been identified as one of the least affordable places to live in the country, for both buyers and renters. In fact, according to the National Low-Income Housing Coalition, Marin, San Francisco and San Mateo counties are the least affordable counties for renters in the United States.
