The Bill Lane Center for the American West will not be issuing a call for applications for postdoctoral fellowships for the 2009-2010 academic year. We appreciate your interest in our Center and hope you will check back in the autumn of 2009 for announcements about our fellowship programs for the 2010-11 academic year.
The Bill Lane Center offers two-year postdoctoral fellowships in the study of the North American West. Recent Ph.D.’s in all disciplines of the humanities and social sciences whose research concerns the Western United States, Western Canada, or Mexico are eligible.
While in residence at the Center, fellows pursue their own research. Fellows also have the opportunity to work with faculty colleagues in developing Center research programs. During their fellowship term, fellows take the lead role in organizing a research workshop, lecture series, or conference related to their area of research.
During each academic year of the appointment, a postdoctoral fellow teaches one undergraduate course on a topic related to their research. Courses are offered in the department most appropriate to their disciplinary specialization.
