On-Campus Research
Departmental Research The Bill Lane Center for the Study of the North American West, in collaboration with the office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (VPUE), offers on-campus research opportunities for Stanford undergraduates. Research projects support faculty research, and are undertaken primarily during the summer. The Center’s Research Assistant (RA) positions are filled through both faculty invitation and student applications. Application information will be posted on this site whenever a position is open. Students receive either a stipend or academic credit for their work, depending on the position. For further information, please contact the Center’s Internship Coordinator. Student-Initiated Research Students interested in pursuing funding for student-initiated research projects are encouraged to contact the Office of Undergraduate Advising and Research (UAR). UAR offers several types of grants to help students with their research-related expenses, and offers individual research-related advising to any student, regardless of funding. For further information about UAR programs, visit the Undergraduate Academic Life (UAL) website at http://ual.stanford.edu/ (follow the link to Undergraduate Research), visit the UAR office in Sweet Hall, or phone 723-2426.
