Chuck Farman

Chuck is a retired corporate law attorney.  Prior to his retirement in 2019, Chuck was a partner in the Palo Alto office of Morrison & Foerster, where he was a member of the firm’s Corporate Law Group and Co-Chair of its Global Private Funds Group.  Chuck’s 33-year practice focused on corporate, securities, and investment transactions, with an emphasis on public and private securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, corporate and securities counseling of public and private companies, and the formation and operation of private equity funds and other private investment vehicles.

Since his retirement from private practice, Chuck has focused his time and attention principally on organizations and initiatives addressing regional environmental issues, the management of water resources, and the maintenance and restoration of rivers, streams and other habitats.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors and Governance Committee of California Trout, Inc., a conservation organization involved in numerous large-scale projects throughout California focused on enhancing the vitality of freshwater ecosystems and protecting the state’s wild fish resource.

As a fourth-generation Californian and an avid outdoorsman, Chuck has had a lifelong interest in historical, cultural and environmental issues involving California and the West. 

Chuck graduated from Stanford University in 1981 with a B.A. in History and received his J.D. from the University of California, Davis, School of Law in 1985.  Chuck lives with his wife Cathy in Davis, California.
