Sarah Quartey

Research Assistant
2012 - Present

B.A. candidate in Urban Studies, 2014

Sarah Quartey, an advocate for first generation and low-income students on campus and an avid dog lover and paper crafter, is interested in the intersection of urban design, social justice, and public space.  Her research this summer questions the impact of urban parks on the civic engagement of served neighborhoods.    With this, she hopes to find a gripping subject matter for her honors thesis before the summer between sophomore and junior years.  With intent to receive a PhD in sociology, Sarah's interested in interdisciplinary programs and finds that the Center for the American West is the perfect match for her urban studies major - not to mention that as an east coast resident at heart, the extra experience of studying the American West is, well, pretty cool.
