Program Coordinator

Surabhi Balachander is a Program Coordinator at the Bill Lane Center for the American West. From 2017-18, Surabhi worked full-time to manage and assist with programs such as internships, Sophomore College, and ArtsWest. Recently, she returned part-time to work with the Center's Rural West Initiative.

Surabhi is also working towards her PhD in English Language and Literature at the University of Michigan, where she coordinates a Rural America Working Group and teaches a rural America-themed first-year writing course. Her research focuses on rurality, race and ethnicity, and environment in American literature from 1920 to the present.
