Sophomores and Faculty Share with Alumni

Spend early Sunday evening visiting with Stanford Faculty Buzz Thompson (Law) and Bruce Cain (Political Science) along with a group of 15 current Stanford students. This is a rare opportunity to engage with students as they participate in a 10-day field course taking them across Nevada and southern Utah. The class, “Fighting Over our Common Heritage: Public Lands in the West,” is part of Stanford’s Sophomore College program, which selects rising sophomores to participate in an intense academic exploration of a topic with senior faculty.

Over appetizers and refreshments at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts we will hear about the students’ experiences traveling across Utah and meeting with private landowners and government officials. Both students and faculty will have plenty to share about their time studying conflicts over public lands. It’s rare to have current Stanford students in Salt Lake, and we hope you join us and Stanford’s Bill Lane Center for the American West, the sponsor of this program.

Appetizers and refreshments will be provided.

Please register by September 7. Thank you!
