I'm Benek, I use he/him pronouns, and I'm from the small coastal town of Carmel, CA. In 2020, I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with research honors. Currently, I'm a Master of Arts candidate with Stanford's Earth Systems Department. I'm passionate about climate policy, environmental justice, and creating a more equitable, sustainable future. I've explored these passions through avenues such as policy research and recommendations with the California Ocean Protection Council, journalism about environmental justice in California, and research on public lands and electoral politics across the Western United States.
I'm a surfer, a hiker, a fisherman, a birder, a gecko owner, a massive soccer fan, and a frequent burrito eater. I'm happiest when I'm in the water, and I love to dive, swim, catch waves, and tidepool. My favorite ecosystem is the kelp forests of Central California. When I’m not at work, you can find me hiking in the redwoods, watering my plants, or shivering in the surf lineup.
