John H. Debs

John holds two Stanford degrees, AB History (1966) and MBA (1968). Born in Chicago and raised on the North Shore, John graduated from New Trier Township High School in 1962.  After Stanford, he pursued a career in finance and ran his own management company, Bodri Capital Management from 1979 to 2015. Bodri Capital managed equity funds for high net worth individuals and institutions including including Reed College, the Stanford Business School Trust, and Goldman Sachs. In the non-profit sector, John has focused on education, including support for Teach For America, KIPP Schools, Rocketship Education, National Public Radio, and The Better Angels Society, where he is a board member supporting the work of Ken Burns. At Stanford, John has endowed two athletic scholarships for football and mens' basketball, along with sponsoring medical research for Drs. Ranjana Advani and Beth Martin.  He has also endowed a chair at the University of Washington for orthopaedic traumatology. John and his wife Catherine are long time Palo Alto residents and alums of the Distinguished Career Institute.
