Kate Gibson

Kate joined the Bill Lane Center for the American West in April 2021. In her capacity as associate director, she manages the Center’s programming, development, finances and administration. Kate has deep roots in the West, and cares deeply about its communities, its culture and its ecosystems.

Prior to joining the Lane Center, Kate was a writer and program manager at Stanford’s Precourt Institute for Energy. At Precourt, she managed various programs – including Energy@Stanford & SLAC and the Shultz Energy Fellowships program – and wrote articles for the Stanford Energy website.

Before Precourt, Kate managed Stanford’s sustainable commute programs and supported communications at Stanford Transportation. She has also worked at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC).

Kate holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Washington and a B.A. in English from Stanford University.
