Marc Levin

Mr. Levin is affiliated with Stanford University's Bill Lane Center for the American West where he is leading a new initiative, called ArtsWest, that focuses on promoting western arts and humanities programming. He also serves on the Board of Advisors for the UC Berkeley Goldman School of Public Policy (GSPP) and the Contemporary Support Council for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. 

He retired as the Associate Director of the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies (IGS) in 2015 after 36 years of service to the University. From April 1998 through June 2010, he also served as IGS Assistant Director. At IGS he had oversight for development and fundraising programs, extramural funding, contracts and grants, academic advancement, major conferences, administration, and strategic planning initiatives.

A cum laude graduate of Gettysburg College with a BA in History, Mr. Levin also holds advanced degrees from the University of Hawaii and California State University. Mr. Levin has published numerous publications on topics such as the effects of state legislative term limits, collecting fugitive public policy research literature, advances in legal research, and the information-seeking behavior of local government officials.

Mr. Levin and his partner Jeff Dauber live in San Francisco and are major contemporary art collectors (Dauber-Levin Collection) and supporters of the local visual arts community.
