Directions and Parking
Driving Directions
From Highway 101 North and South:
- Take the Embarcadero Road/Oregon Expressway exit and head west toward Stanford.
- Continue straight. After crossing El Camino Real, Embarcadero Road becomes Galvez Street as you enter campus.
- Stay on Galvez Street for approximately 2.5–3 miles.
- At the fork near the center of campus, bear left.
- Turn right onto Campus Drive.
- Continue on Campus Drive past Palm Drive.
- Turn left onto Roth Way and park in Parking Structure 1 (PS1), which is the closest large visitor parking structure to the Main Quad.
From Highway 280 North & South:
- Take the Sand Hill Road East exit toward Stanford/Menlo Park.
- Continue approximately 2.8 miles on Sand Hill Road.
- Turn right onto Stock Farm Road.
- Turn left onto Campus Drive West.
- Continue on Campus Drive West and turn right onto Roth Way.
- Enter Parking Structure 1 (PS1) on your left. This is one of the most convenient visitor parking locations for Building 360.
From El Camino Real:
- On El Camino Real (Highway 82), turn onto University Avenue toward Stanford (west, away from downtown Palo Alto).
- Continue straight as University Avenue becomes Palm Drive at the Stanford entrance.
- Follow Palm Drive approximately 0.5 mile to the Oval.
- Turn right onto Roth Way.
- For visitor parking, enter Parking Structure 1 (PS1) on the right. This is the most convenient parking location for Building 360.
Parking
Please consider carpooling or taking public transportation, as parking on campus is limited. Visitor parking for $5.45 per hour (cash and credit cards accepted) is available at the parking structure and in several smaller lots in the area. Find more information about parking on campus.
Public Transportation
Stanford University can be reached via several public transportation options, including Caltrain. For more information, see the Bay Area Transit website.
Marguerite Shuttle (Stanford’s Free Shuttle Service)
- Exit the Caltrain station on the Stanford (west) side. The Marguerite shuttle stop is immediately outside the Palo Alto Transit Center.
Board either:
- Marguerite Line Y (Clockwise), or
- Marguerite Line X (Counter-Clockwise)
Both routes are free and operate weekdays between the Palo Alto Transit Center and the Stanford campus.
- Recommended stop: Main Quad (Serra Mall).
- From the Main Quad shuttle stop, walk about 4–6 minutes:
- Enter the Main Quad through the arcade.
- Continue through the Inner Quad.
- Turn toward the Outer Quad/Lomita Mall.
- Building 360 is located on the Lomita Mall side of the Outer Main Quad. The accessible entrance is on the Lomita Mall side of the building.
Walking from downtown Palo Alto or the Sheraton Palo Alto Hotel (approx. 30 minutes)
- Destination: Building 360 450 Jane Stanford Way Stanford, CA 94305
- Start on University Avenue and walk west toward Stanford University.
- Continue straight as University Avenue becomes Palm Drive after entering the campus through the Main Entrance.
- Follow Palm Drive to The Oval, the large grassy circle in front of the Main Quad.
- Walk to the right of Memorial Church and enter the Main Quad through the arcade.
- Continue through the Inner Main Quad, keeping the arcade on your right.
- After passing Building 100, turn left toward the Outer Main Quad.
- Once you reach Lomita Mall, turn left.
- Building 360 is on the left (west) side of the Outer Main Quad, facing Lomita Mall. The main accessible entrance is directly on the Lomita Mall side of the building.
- From the Sheraton Palo Alto Hotel (625 El Camino Real):
- Walk one block to University Avenue, then follow the directions above. The total walk is approximately 30 minutes through downtown Palo Alto and Stanford's historic campus. Similar walking directions are provided by several Stanford departments for destinations deeper on campus.
- This route is the most scenic pedestrian approach, taking you through Palm Drive, the Oval, Memorial Church, and the Main Quad before arriving at Building 360.
