Bill Lane Center Public Opinion Poll

The Bill Lane Center for the American West has conducted a poll of adult Californians, which sought their opinions in advance of the statewide primary on June 5, 2018. The survey reached 1,113 respondents and explored attitudes toward the state of the nation and economy, preferences for candidates for statewide office, and experiences of gender discrimination or harrassment at the workplace and in other walks of life.

The survey was designed by Bruce Cain and Iris Hui, researchers at the Bill Lane Center for the American West. Advising the Lane Center on survey content were Hoover Institution senior fellow and Stanford political scientist David Brady and Doug Rivers, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and a professor of political science and Bill Whalen, a Hoover research fellow who studies California politics.

The online poll was conducted between May 12 and 24 by YouGov and has a margin of plus or minus 4 percent.
